This week we are preparing to get our new kitten, Mowgli!
We are driving to meet our friends in California who have been fostering a six-month old cat. We will work on business projects while with them, and bring Mowgli home with us.
Valentine’s day has come and past and it was lovely and chill. We didn’t actually plan anything ahead of time, but had a very intentional, according to the design of our lives Sunday and we loved it!
This is not to say we didn’t bring romance to what we were doing 😉
Throughout the day we experienced our tasks in a context of service and joy – I worked out for the first time in a few days, Thomas cooked the family brunch and dinner, I cleaned our space, Thomas set up the next steps in his training business, and the pair of us planned out and managed life items together. I’m telling you it was a blast.
What a lovely day it was to live out our life as designed.
Oh! And we cannot forget Thomas’s requested Valentine’s day activity of watching the Nets vs. Warriors game from start to finish. I mean, talk about luxury. I also gave myself an impromptu haircut, and called Thomas in for support shaving my neck. That, folks is romance!
It’s been a snowy few days in Portland and we have been so fortunate to be cozy at home. The air has been crisp and bright, and the true winter vibes of reflective creation and comfortable resting are in full swing.
We agreed at the end of it that for Valentine’s day we got each other and ourselves the gift of a wonderful, fulfilling day.
I mean, really, take an ordinary day in your life and play through it under the following conditions:
- you follow your diet
- you relax on a weekend with your person and loved ones
- you exercise
- you are well groomed
- your space is clean and refreshed
- you plan ahead for your dream life
- your business is taken care of
Yeah, we were pretty jazzed.
Sometimes holidays or occasions can occur as pressure to do certain things or meet certain expectations. We really didn’t do any of that this Valentine’s day. We did however take the opportunities to apply ourselves to having a truly great day even though it looked “ordinary”. And we absolutely loved it! It was such a blessing to see one’s partner thriving throughout the day we created – that was the gift in and of itself.
